2021-2022 GoCPS Application

The high school application for next school year is live, which means it’s time to research and explore your options.

We know you are anxious to get started (we are too), but the most important tip we can give you right now is to take your time. It is a common misconception that applying early gives families an advantage in selection when, in fact, it does not. You have the same chances of receiving an offer to a program whether you apply today or on the deadline (it’s December 11th). Make sure you do the work and get familiar with all your options. That way, you can make sure you don’t just get your top choice but the right choice.

A Couple Friendly Reminders:

Activate Your Account

In order to apply online, you will need to activate your account, if you have not already done so, or if you don’t already have an account from a previous year. If you do not already have a GoCPS account and you did not receive your Activation Code, CPS families can contact their child’s school counselor, and non-CPS families who registered for the fall 2020 NWEA MAP can contact the Office of Access and Enrollment at 773-553-2060 or gocps@cps.edu.

The activation process is quick and simple; just follow the link below and we’ll show you how.

High School Application Basics

Don’t forget, you can select and rank up to 20 Choice Programs and, if you are eligible, up to 6 Selective Enrollment Programs. You can receive a maximum of one single best Choice offer and one single best Selective Enrollment offer, if you qualify. You always have a guaranteed seat in the general education program of your neighborhood school, and if you attend a continuing school (a school that serves eighth grade as well as grades 9-12), you have a guaranteed seat in that school as well.

Open Houses

Open House events will be offered virtually this year. Visit the GoCPS events calendar for information. Events are posted as they are submitted to the Office of Access and Enrollment, so check periodically for new events or contact the school(s) of your choice if you do not see an Open House scheduled.

Fall 2020 NWEA MAP

If you registered for the fall 2020 NWEA MAP, your scores will be posted to your GoCPS account within three weeks of your last test date. You cannot apply to schools/programs with NWEA MAP eligibility requirements until your scores are posted. You will be contacted via email to let you know when the scores are on your account.

Winter 2020 NWEA MAP

The timeline and process for the winter 2020 NWEA MAP have not yet been finalized. Information about this exam will be shared once it is available.

Elementary and High School Guide

The 2021-22 Elementary and High School Guide tells you all you need to know about the application, testing, selection, and notification process. The guide can be accessed here – scroll down to ‘Elementary and High School Guide.’

Web Browsers

As a helpful reminder, GoCPS is optimized for viewing on Chrome and Safari. For the best possible application experience, we recommend using one of these browsers to access the site.
