LINNE SCHOOL COVID-19 INFORMATION

3/31- Today, Governor Pritzker announced that the state-wide mandated school closures will be extended through April 30. Meal distribution will continue on the Richmond Ave. side of the building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please note that due to Spring Break (4/6 - 4/10) meal distribution or picking up print packets will not take place.  These activities will resume on 4/13.

3/30 -CPS announced that all schools will be moving into a Remote Learning platform.  Linne school will be transitioning to Remote Learning on April 13, 2020.  The Remote Learning Plan will be in effect until the Chicago Public Schools reopen.  The plan will be shared with parents and students on April 6, 2020 via email and a link will be available on this website.  A Remote Learning section of this website will launch on April 13th. Until then, students will continue to work on print packets that were distributed or work assigned through Google Classroom by their teachers.

3/25 - Need to contact your child's teacher or a staff member during the school closure?  click here for an email staff directory.

3/20- Governor Pritzker has issued a "stay at home" order.  Executive Order 2020-10 requires all Illinoisans to stay in their homes to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. The order prohibits things like visiting other people’s homes (except to provide care or supplies) and gatherings of more than 10 people and closes all nonessential establishments, including most retail, recreation and entertainment businesses. It does NOT prohibit essential activities like going to the grocery store, receiving medical care, or taking your pet for a walk. However, Linne will continue to distribute food on the Richmond side of the building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Three days of breakfast and lunch will be available daily.

3/19 - UPDATE ON THE USE OF ONLINE COMMUNICATION -  In light of school closures, we want to ensure that teachers have the resources needed to stay engaged with students. To give teachers an additional option to communicate with students, CPS has enabled Google Hangouts Chat (chat.google.com) district-wide. Google Hangouts Chat and Google Classroom are approved CPS tools and are in compliance with the district's Acceptable Use Policies. Please note that our district video-conferencing platform, Google Meet, is disabled for student use in accordance with the Acceptable Use Policies. CPS is currently pursuing a live streaming option that would be aligned with our policies to ensure student safety. We will reach out with additional information once this live streaming tool becomes available.

3/19 - Message from our School Social Worker, Ms. Vargas:  Dear Parents- I want to provide you with ideas and access to resources to help support the social-emotional learning of your child.  Below are some websites that can provide you with ideas and activities to foster ongoing learning over this extended break.  It’s important to remember how impactful play can be for kids of all ages.  If time allows, engage with your child through board games, creative play, baking, fun experiments, etc.  All of these activities allow for social interaction where you can role model social communication, connection, and expression of feelings. I will be regularly responding to emails at cmvargas1@cps.edu

Sincerely, Corina Vargas, School Social Worker.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION FOR STUDENTS DURING SCHOOL CLOSURE

While schools are closed, CPS will provide our students with healthy meals. CPS families can pick up free food boxes at any CPS school, with the exception of Vaughn Occupational High School and Sheridan Math and Science Academy, that will contain three days of breakfast and lunch for every student in the household. Food pick-up will be held outdoors, and Safe Passage workers will be on their normally assigned routes while families are getting meals. If you need assistance, please call the CPS Command Center at 773-553-KIDS (5437) or email familyservices@cps.edu. Pick up of food for Linne students will take place on the Richmond side of the annex building.

SCHOOL BUILDING ACCESS

Beginning on Tuesday, March 17, all school facilities will be closed for deep cleaning, and you will not be permitted to enter the building during the closure.  ONLY limited essential emergency staff will be allowed to enter the building.  You may call the main office at 773-534-5262 or send us an email at gaparra@cps.edu or rpmackin@cps.edu.

EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT FOR STUDENTS DURING CLOSURE

Grade-level activity print packets were sent home with students.  These were specifically prepared by their teachers and will require little intervention by parents.  Additional packets were put together by CPS and are available to PreK-12th grade students and include non-digital and digital activities for students.  Parents can download the grade-level packets at cps.edu/enrichmentresources. Copies of the packets will also be available at food distribution sites.  If you child was absent on 3/16/2020 you may pick up a packet on Tuesday, March 17th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sacramento Ave. entrance.
